Healthy eating helps keep your blood sugar in your target range.In the treatment of diabetes the diet has an important role complementary to the pharmaceutical treatment. The diet must provide the right amount of nutrients and calories in order for the individual to reach and maintain the ideal weight, stabilize the blood glucose levels, and attain an optimal lipid profile. The daily caloric intake is represented by 55-60% of carbohydrates with a preference for nutrients rich in fiber and with a low blood glucose index. Of the daily caloric intake 10% may include sucrose as long as it is consumed in the context of a balanced meal. Eat Small, Frequent Meals. Diabetics should eat 4-5 small meals during the day instead of three larger meals, says the American Diabetes Association (ADA). Eating several small meals may also decrease your hunger and reduce the overall number of calories you eat during the day. Your eating plan should focus on the amount and type of carbs you put on your plate throughout the day, Powers says. Here are some food items that can help to keep maintain your blood sugar and make you happy and healthy. 
  1. RAW, COOKED, OR ROASTED VEGETABLES – These add color, flavor, and texture to a meal. Choose tasty, low-carb veggies, like mushrooms, onions, eggplant, tomatoes, zucchini etc.
  3. GREEN LEAFY VEGETABLES – Add green leafy vegetables like spinach,Rai,bathua etc. atleast once in a day, these will help you to maintain your blood sugar.
  5. INFUSED WATER – Plain water is always good, but water infused with fruits and vegetables is more interesting. Cut up a lemon or cucumber and put it in your water, or make ice cubes with some flavoring in them.
  7. WHOLE-GRAIN,HIGHER-FIBER FOODS- Fill up on these to keep from overeating or choosing the wrong foods.Try legumes like dried beans, peas, and lentils. You can even enjoy a black bean and corn salsa with your raw vegetables.
  9. CINNAMON WATER – cinnamon also works like a medicine for diabitic patients, so one can use a little bit cinnamon atleast once in a day.
